Everything you need to run a smooth game night with Darts Scorer, plus answers to the questions we get asked most.
Quick Start Guide
1. Tell the App Who You Are
During onboarding the App asks for your name. That name is your seat at the table: the win and loss cards on the Home screen and everything in the Stats tab follow the player with this name. You can change it later, and add a profile photo, under Settings > Profile.
2. Pick a Game
The Home screen offers four modes: X01 (301, 501 or 701), Cricket, Around the Clock and Party Killer. Tap one to set up a match. If you are ever unsure how a game works, tap the ? button on any setup or game screen for a full plain-English rules guide.
3. Set Up the Match
Add players and pick your format. In X01 that means Best of or First to legs and the out rule (Straight, Double or Master, plus optional Double In); Cricket has three variants; Around the Clock and Killer have their own house-rule toggles. Every option is explained right on the setup screen.
4. Score Your Turns
In X01, enter each dart on the numpad — the App subtracts, watches for busts, and confirms the turn automatically a moment after the third dart (or immediately when you tap Confirm). In Cricket you tap the number you hit with single, double or triple; in Around the Clock and Killer each tap is processed instantly. Made a mistake? Undo takes back the last dart.
5. Chase the Checkout
In X01, once your score is in checkout range the App shows a recommended route right on the scoreboard — for example T20 T18 D18 from 150 — so you always know what to aim at. Whether you take that route or your favourite one is up to you.
6. Finish, Review, Resume
Finished matches land in the History tab, grouped by day, with the result, the players and the duration. Tap a finished match to see its result screen again, or tap a live one — including the Resume card on Home — to carry on exactly where you left off. Swipe a match to delete it.
Understanding the Game Modes
X01 — 301, 501 and 701
Everyone starts on the same score and races to exactly zero. The out rule decides what your last dart must be: Straight means anything, Double means a double (the standard), Master means a double or a triple. Go below zero — or below what your out rule allows — and it is a bust: the turn does not count and your score is restored. Double In, when enabled, means your scoring only starts once you hit a double.
Cricket
A two-player duel on 15 through 20 and the Bull. Three marks close a number; hits on a number you have closed score points until your opponent closes it too. Cut-Throat turns the tables — points you score are added to your opponent, and the lowest total wins. No Points is a pure race to close everything first. An optional round limit keeps games from running long: when it is reached, the current leader wins.
Around the Clock
Hit 1, then 2, and so on up to 20 — with the Bull as a final target if you choose that sequence. The Skip rule house rule makes doubles jump you two targets ahead and triples three; Exact finish means the last target must be hit exactly, with no skipping past it. Play solo for practice or with up to six players.
Party Killer
The party game for three to six players. First, everyone throws with their weaker hand to claim a number. Hit your own number's double to become a Killer, then hit the doubles of the other players' numbers to take their lives. Lose all your lives and you are out; the last player standing wins. House rules let you skip the become-a-Killer step or make hitting your own double as a Killer cost you a life.
What the Stats Mean

All statistics belong to the player whose name matches your profile name, and they are computed from your finished matches on your device — nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
"My wins aren't showing up in Stats."
- Check the name: Stats follow the player whose name matches your profile name (Settings > Profile). If you were added to a match as "Dad" but your profile says "Mike", that match counts for "Dad".
- Capitalisation does not matter — "mike" and "Mike" are the same player.
- Only finished matches count; a live match appears in Stats once it is completed.
"I entered the wrong score."
- Tap Undo to take back the last dart — you can press it repeatedly to rewind the whole turn.
- In X01 the turn confirms itself shortly after the third dart. If it already confirmed, Undo still steps back through the previous turn.
"The app says Bust but the darts were fine."
- A bust happens when a turn takes you below zero, to exactly one with Double out (one cannot be finished with a double), or to zero with a dart your out rule does not allow.
- Check the match's out rule on the setup screen — Straight, Double and Master out each allow different finishing darts. The ? guide explains them all.
"I closed the app mid-game. Is the match gone?"
- No — live matches are saved continuously. Reopen the app and use the Resume card on the Home screen, or find the match with its LIVE badge in History, and carry on where you left off.
"I subscribed but the premium features are locked."
- Open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases.
- Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase.
- If it still does not unlock, email us and we will sort it out.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: How many players can join a game?
A: X01 and Around the Clock take one to six players, Party Killer takes three to six, and Cricket is a head-to-head game for exactly two. Everyone plays on one device, passed around between turns.
Q: Can I practice on my own?
A: Yes. X01 and Around the Clock both work solo — score your visits as usual and use the Stats tab to watch your averages, checkout rate and best legs improve over time.
Q: Does it work without an internet connection?
A: Yes. Scoring, history and statistics all work fully offline. A connection is only needed to start or restore a subscription.
Q: Do the checkout suggestions follow official routes?
A: The App suggests a sensible route for your remaining score and your out rule, similar to the tables professional callers use. There is always more than one way out of a number, so treat it as a good default rather than the only answer.
Q: Does the app work for steel tip and soft tip?
A: Yes. The App scores what you enter, so it does not matter what kind of board is on the wall. Soft-tip players may want the Straight out rule and 301, which are common in soft-tip leagues — both are on the setup screen.
Q: Where is my match data stored?
A: On your device, inside the app. Matches are not synced to us or to any server. They are included in your iPhone backup, and deleting the app deletes them. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Q: Can I rename a player or change my profile photo?
A: Your own name and photo are under Settings > Profile — tap the card to edit the name, or add, change and remove the photo. Other players' names are set when you add them to a match.
Q: How do I cancel my subscription?
A: Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Go to Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions on your iPhone, select Darts Scorer and cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app on its own does not cancel anything.
Q: I want a refund.
A: Purchases go through Apple, so refunds are requested at reportaproblem.apple.com. We are not able to issue them ourselves, but tell us what went wrong and we will try to fix it.
